Bohali has a rich history
with many places of interest to visit:
Lofos Strani is a
large hill within Bohali, that is famously known throughout
Greece as the place where Dionysos Solomos (national
poet of Greece) composed the Greek National Anthem.
Venetian Castle that
was built by the Italians while the seven Ionian Islands
were under Italian occupation. |
Nautical Museum containing
the history of the Greek Navy with many artefacts from
the Greek revolution. Also boats, torpedo’s, uniforms
and contributions from the 1st and 2nd World Wars.
St George of Filikon Chapel famous for its
activity during the Greek Revolution against Turkey
in1821. The Greek General Kolokopronis (printed on the
last 5,000 drachma note) escaped mainland Greece and
took solace at this chapel where the secret society
(filiki eteria) were based. Here they planned their
attacks. |
