    » Greece: Ouzo officially recognised as Greek product.

    This follows tense negotiations and discussions but Ouzo and Tsipouro, the popular aniseed flavoured alcoholic drinks, are now to be renowned as Greek produce across the 25 European Union countries.

    France has exclusive use of the name Champagne and so it seems fitting that Greece was also given the sole rights to use the names Ouzo and Tsipouro for some of its best known and best loved drinks.
