    A reader is off on her hols with a little help from a newspaper.
    Margaret Tinning's trip to Zante was put in jeopardy when Direct Holidays cancelled her flight from Newcastle.
    An alternative from Manchester was not suitable and she was given just 21 days to make up her mind up.
    But after intervention, Margaret and her travelling companion will travel from Newcastle after all.Margaret, of Cramlington, Northumberland, said: We got a letter saying the flight in May was switched to Manchester.
    The newspaper passed the complaint to Thomas Cook, owners of Direct Holidays, who managed to find alternative flights from Newcastle a week earlier.
    The extra cost of £226 per person will be absorbed by the tour operator and they were also given £50 compensation. A spokesman for Thomas Cook said: Customer service is a priority at Direct Holidays and we were sorry to learn that Mrs Tinning was unhappy with the level of service she received.
